Locals are continuing to raise funds for Rogette Boyer, of Madison, who is battling Stage Four Colon Cancer without health insurance. Sandy Reynolds, who runs an alteration business out of Madison Flea Market, is working diligently to keep donations coming in for Boyer’s chemotherapy treatments.
“Rogette is an icon in the area when it comes to her role as a backup singer for her husband EJ, AKA Elvis,” said Reynolds. “When she’s not singing, Rogette is running the office for Nesbitt Repair as office manager.”
According to Reynolds, Rogette started chemo at the end of May.
“At this time, she has been told there is no cure just treatment for the cancer. Rogette has left her job and is working to fight this battle with cancer,” reads the flyer for her fundraiser. “As with any medical treatment the costs are astronomical. EJ is working for the City of Madison full-time and taking leave when necessary to support his wife. Cutting their income in half is bad enough, but with the bills it is almost too much to bear. Your support for Rogette and her family has been good. We have an account at Bank of Madison set up for raising funds and also on Go Fund Me. Your continued support is appreciated.”
Reynolds has a jar set up at the Madison Flea Market where people can also donate to help Rogette ease the cost of treatment. The flea market is located at 1291 Eatonton Road.
“At the last event we had for her, we raised $500,” said Reynolds. “We want to keep that going until her last treatment is done!”
The next fundraiser event will be held at Bone Island Grillhouse on Sunday, July 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The restaurant is located at 920 Greensboro Road in Eatonton.
