Despite sporadic rains, the annual Firefly Festival was lively and abuzz with the sounds of laughing children, dancing feet, and family fun.

According to Madison City officials, about 400 children pranced through Town Park, bouncing from one activity to another during the festival last Friday, and about 800 people gathered for Saturday’s portion of the festival.

“We had a few sprinkles on Friday, but it didn’t seem to faze the almost 400 kiddos, or their parents, grandparents and siblings, that came out to enjoy the event,” said Colleen Hall, events coordinator for the city. “Saturday’s Date Night Concert featuring the Sounds of Motown Band was really great! Approximately 800 folks showed up on Saturday to enjoy a beautiful summer evening of dancing and fun.”

“We would like to thank all of our supporters, especially our Firefly Presenting Sponsor, Main Street Vet for being such a faithful supporter!” added Hall.  “Thanks to Children Ferst Foundation of Morgan County, America’s Natural Gas of Madison, DOCK 103.9, Madison Rentals, the Morgan County Citizen, Algin Realty, and Triplett Family Chiropractic, and Antique Sweets for their continued support!”
