Morgan County Grand Jury returns indictments

The Morgan County Grand Jury met last week. The following persons were indicted on criminal charges from the grand jury.

Christy Elaine Thomason, 36, Mauldin, S.C., was indicted on one count theft by receiving, one count fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, one count driving while license suspended, one count reckless driving and one count speeding. According to court documents, Thomason was arrested on July 1, by a Georgia State Patrol trooper after she was observed driving a 2011 Toyota Tundra that had been reported stolen from Wyoming. The trooper, documents state, attempted to stop Thomason for speeding on Interstate 20 and then allegedly attempted to elude the trooper when attempting a traffic stop.

Sharon Lenice Beck, 42, East Dublin, Ga., was indicted on one count possession of marijuana, more than an ounce. According to court documents, Beck was arrested by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on June 6, after a vehicle in which she was a passenger was stopped. Records allege that, consequent to the stop, the trooper located four large plastic bags of suspected marijuana totaling approximately four pounds in the front passenger compartment of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Alvin Wright, 46, East Dublin, was indicted on one count possession of marijuana, more than an ounce and one count driving while license suspended. Wright was stopped on Interstate 20 near the 113 mile marker by the trooper.

Christopher Scott Alford, 29, Columbia, S.C. was indicted on one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts speeding. According to court documents, Alford was arrested by a Georgia State Patrol trooper on May 21, after the trooper allegedly observed Alford driving 100 mph in a 70 mph zone on Interstate 20. Consequent to the stop the trooper allegedly found a loaded .380 Lorcin pistol in the back pocket of the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Cervantez Letaviou Ellison, 38, Eatonton, was indicted on one count entering an automobile. According to court documents, Ellison was arrested on Dec 21, 2016 after he allegedly entered a co–worker’s vehicle at Wal- mart on two occasions and removed $52 cash from the car. A warrant alleges that the incident was captured on video surveillance.

Justin Thomas Whitlock, 19, Madison, was indicted on one count statutory rape. According to court documents, Whitlock was arrested on May 31, by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office investigator after he allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14–year–old female at a Fears Road residence.

Patrick Carlton Harrington, 38, Jackson Springs, N.C., was indicted on one count trafficking in methamphetamine, one count possession of Ocycodone, one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, one count criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, one count theft by receiving stolen property, one count obstruction of an officer and two counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A co–defendant in the case, Gerald Allen Smith, 55, Ellerbe, N.C., was indicted on one count trafficking in methamphetamine, one count possession of Ocycodone, one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, one count criminal use of an article with an altered identification mark, one count theft by receiving stolen property and one count driving while license suspended.

According to court documents, Harrington and Smith were both arrested by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy on June 5, after a vehicle driven by Smith was involved in a single–car accident on Interstate 20. Warrants allege that the two men fled the accident site and were later apprehended during a search by several law enforcement officers near Davis Academy Road. Consequent to their arrest, a warrant alleges, 76.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine was found in their possession along with a handgun with the serial number filed off as well as a Valor .22 pistol and a Lorcin .380 semi–automatic handgun.

William Carlton Savard, 41, Rutledge, was indicted on one count possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of drug related objects. According to court documents, Savard was arrested on June 2, by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy after the deputy went to a Davis Academy Road residence to serve an arrest warrant against Savard. Warrants allege that the deputy observed Savard outside the residence and after the deputy approached Savard and served him with the warrant. The deputy allegedly located an Altoids box on Savard’s person containing two bags of suspected methamphetamine and a suspected methamphetamine pipe.

Tony Donell Boswell, 38, Madison was indicted on one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and one count possession of drug related objects. According to court documents, Boswell was arrested on May 19, 2017 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office investigator after investigators executed a search warrant on a Sulgrave Drive residence. Consequent to the search, warrants allege, the officers found 82.5 grams of suspected marijuana in 18 separate bags, a set of Digitz scales, glass smoking devices, plastic baggies, a marijuana grinder, glass jars and containers and $3,219 in cash.

Two of the bills, warrants state, had the same serial numbers as bills used by a confidential informant to purchase marijuana.
