Hal S. Crawford Sr., 81, passed away November 7, 2017 at Northside Hospital after succumbing to pneumonia. He was born in Buckhead, Morgan County, Georgia to Custer Crawford and Martha Spearman Crawford Talley on March 7, 1936. He was a member of  the First United Methodist Church of Madison.

He attended Morgan County High School and the University of Georgia where he was a member and president of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity. Hal was also the past president of the Optimist Club in Sandy Springs as well as served on the Fulton County Board of Elections. His involvement also included being active in state politics as well as a Friend to the Boy Scouts of America. Hal also stayed busy with involvement in his membership with the Peachtree United Methodist Church, before transferring to Mt. Bethel Methodist in East Cobb. Lastly, he faithfully serve his country in the Coast Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Stigler Crawford and three sons; Hal Jr., (Margaret), Alan (Teresa) and Robert (Lisa), his brother in Madison and his wife Robert and Nancy Crawford and his sister from Leesburg, Florida, Ann Carmichael. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Melissa Kate, Elizabeth, Andrew, Laura, Jeanine and Christopher and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 10 at  11 a.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Committal service followed the funeral service at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Sandy Springs.

In lieu of flowers if desired, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
