An investigation into a man who allegedly sent a 12-year-old girl inappropriate and suggestive texts has now resulted in a second man being charged with child molestation.
According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Brandon Maycock, 22, Madison was arrested on Tuesday, June 5 and charged with one count child molestation and one count enticing a child for indecent purposes.
One day prior to Maycock’s arrest, officers had arrested Charles Stone, 39, Madison and charged him with enticing a minor after the juvenile’s parents discovered texts of a graphic nature in the girl’s phone.
Sgt. Brandon Sellers, Investigations Division, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, said Maycock was interviewed after investigators followed leads gleaned from interviews with Stone.
Reports state that Maycock allegedly admitted to investigators that he had sexual relations with the child. Sgt. Sellers said the victim had also identified Maycock as a person who had allegedly molested her.
Sgt. Sellers said the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office had used a child abuse specialist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to interview the child in an attempt to ascertain if there are more persons of interest. However, he said, authorities believe there are no more suspects.
