William Franklin Nunn Sr., 73, of Thomaston died at his residence June 24, 2018. Memorial services for Frank was held Sunday, July 1, at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Thomaston First Baptist Church. Rev. Bill Barber officiated.
Frank was born in Bostwick March 24, 1945 to Columbus Flourney “Sam” and Mary Ethel Montgomery Nunn. His parents preceded him in death.
Frank was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to so many. He faced an ugly disease, cancer, with determination and fought with such tenacity. He comforted his family and friends with smiles, kisses and lots of love his last few weeks. He was so very brave for all.
Frank graduated from Morgan County High School. After graduating from the University of Georgia he went to work for Production Credit Association in Madison. He served as branch manager in Atmore, Alabama and Thomaston. For the past 30 years Frank was an insurance agent and financial advisor. He was a member of Lions Club International in Madison and Thomaston. He held several offices during his membership. He also was a member of the Sertoma Club and served as president in Thomaston. He was a TUA supporter and sponsored several events through the years.
Following in his father’s and brother’s footsteps, he became a Master Mason at an early age in the Wellington Lodge 467 in Bostwick and was an active Shriner and past President of the Khirah Club. He was an avid UGA Bulldogs fan. He loved spending times with family and especially Danielle, his only grandchild.
Frank and Jill were dedicated members of First Baptist Church for several decades. Frank served as head usher for many years and loved his Sunday school class. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Thomaston. Frank also served in the sound booth for many years at church.
Edward Nunn of Bostwick and Eugene Nunn of Charlotte N.C. preceded him in death.
Frank is survived by his wife Jill Nunn; they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary June 4. Also surviving him his son William Franklin Nunn Jr. (Frankie), wife Mary and granddaughter Danielle of Newborn; surviving siblings are John (Ona), Earl (Sybil), Sara Ann Nunn Speer, all of Bostwick; sister-in-law Betty Nunn of Charlotte, N.C.; nieces and nephews and a host of friends who mourn the loss of a wonderful man.
