Frank G. Lawton Jr. of Buckhead passed away August 17, 2018 at the age of 93. Mr. Lawton was a Corporal in the United States Marines during World War II. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech before becoming an auditor for the United States Government until he retired. After he retired Mr. Lawton became a busy man. He was a member of Madison Presbyterian Church for 28 years. He was an elder for many years. He volunteered at the Morgan County Primary School first grade every week school was in session reading to and helping the children. He attended Bible Study classes at church every week. He learned to quilt and made many for Project Linus children of all ages. He also taught himself how to carve ornamental ducks using blocks of wood.
Mr. Lawton’s two brothers Jim and Bill passed away several years ahead of him.
He is survived by his wife Judy Lawton and his three children, Sara Faye Lawton, Andrew Lawton and Brian Lawton and his wife Paula. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Lois and Julie, nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Service at the Madison Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. The service will be followed by a lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
