Brittany Whitley Community

Bark your calendars for the Morgan County Humane Society’s Piston for Paws Charity – Car and Motorcycle Show on Sunday, September 16. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles of all types and years will occupy the path of West Jefferson Street in Downtown Madison from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To those who believe their hot rod is hot enough to scorch the competition in categories like Best Chevy, Best Ford, Best Mopar, People’s Choice, Best Motorcycle, Top Ten, and Best in Show, sign up as soon as registration begins, the day of at 10 a.m. Plaques or trophies will be given to the winners of each category.

In exchange for a registration fee, per vehicle, of $20, and a donation of the following: Liquid Laundry Detergent, Bleach, Purina Dry Puppy Food, Purina Cat Chow, Scoop-able Cat Litter, or a five-dollar Walmart gift card, participants will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win donated prizes from local businesses.

With free general admission for the community, the charity will feature music from 103.9 The Doc’s own DJ while local food vendors line the street to prepare good eats for purchase and stations with volunteering hands offer face painting for your children.

“This is an event for the community to come out and show off their vehicles or motorcycles, but everyone can come eat lunch and admire the show while supporting the Humane Society of Morgan County,” says the organizer of the charity, Beth Bradley. “I want this event to become a yearly staple for Madison; it is something the whole family can enjoy. Who knows, someone may see a car from their past and remember a great memory.”

All proceeds from the charity will benefit the Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC), a no-kill shelter, in all caretaking and rescue efforts for domestic animals.

If weather does not permit, a rain date of September 23 at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. has been scheduled. Visit and like the HSMC Facebook page at facebook.com/humanemorgan for updated information on the event.
