Carlos D. Jaramillo, 84 of Madison, died August 28, 2018. Mr. Jaramillo was born July 6, 1934 in Panama City, Panama. His parents were Carlos Jaramillo Segovia and Carmen Aguilar de Jaramillo. As a teenager, he moved to the United States and gained his United States Citizenship at age 22. He attended the University of Florida, earning various degrees, including a Master’s in Education. He worked for a time with NASA. Later he become a teacher and swim coach and eventually his favorite job as a high school guidance counselor. Mr. Jaramillo loved to travel and visited countries the world over. He was married to the late Beatriz Gonzales. Mr. Jaramillo moved to Madison from Fairfax, VA after Mrs. Jaramillo died earlier this year.
Mr. Jaramillo is survived by his children: Mike and Dee Jaramillo, Lynette(LP) Patricia and Tom Gelles and Lydia and Ken Johnson. He was predeceased by his step daughter, Carmen Machicado. He is also survived by his brothers, Edgar and Juana Jaramillo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 12 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home.
