Robert Gerald “Bobby” Jordan, age 67, of Watkinsville, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at his home from pancreatic cancer. Bobby was born on September 15, 1951 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. He was a 1969 graduate of Tucker High School in Tucker, where he played football and as a senior was President of the Student Body. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia in Athens, and served as an officer of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He began his business career with General Motors in Doraville, then as an owner/manager of Top-Notch Builders’ Supply in Madison, until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joy Hallman Jordan; his son Robert Jeremy Jordan and Jennifer Wilcox of Athens; brother Don Jordan and Carol Jordan of Bogart; sister Jan Jordan Bird and Thomas Bird of Snellville; brother Alan Jordan and Sharon Jordan of Alpharetta; sister Trish Blackwell of Loganville; niece Traci Bird Smith and Jesse Smith and great-niece Bailey Smith of Alpharetta; niece Jenny Blackwell of Sandy Springs; niece Mandy Blackwell of Loganville; nephew Michael Jordan of Tucker; nephew Brian Jordan and Avery Hardy of Stone Mountain; and other loving family members.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Emory Jackson “Jack” Jordan and Pauline Wages Jordan of Tucker; a brother-in-law Wade Blackwell of Loganville, and father and mother-in-law J.D. Hallman and Corrine Haley Hallman of Eatonton.
Bobby was a kind, gentle-spoken man and will be deeply missed by those who loved him. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, September 27, between 5-9 p.m. in the Day Chapel at The State Botanical Garden, 2450 Milledge Avenue, Athens.
