The Last Jam!

Special to the Citizen

A big thanks to everyone, who helped make The Last Jam concert at the auditorium of Morgan County High School, a big success and a lot of fun!  We planned for 14 bands and five hours of live music…and it happened!  But, not without a lot of help from the following people:

Thanks to Eric Dodd, recently named CMT Indie Artist to Watch, and well-known local boy (MCHS Class of 2003), who came home and not only performed two musical numbers, but then jammed with some of our current students as well.

Thanks to our local MCHS talent:

Poncho Mac – Nolan Brown, Barrett Adams, Chase Bonner, Jake Bailey, and Chaz Phillips

Lucia and Max – Lucia Hodges and Max Oller  and

The Varsity Band – Bennett Evans, Aaron White, Sam Smith, and Adaira Chapman.  We won’t be surprised if we see your names in lights some day!

Thanks to many of the other bands and performers, who spent their time traveling to Madison to get the “band back together”:

Jake and Tobie Williams with Caleb Williams and Logan Nation

Justin Huff with Nick Shelton, Caleb Williams, Ryan Johnson, and Logan Nation

The Man Band with Ben Shytle, Dylan Jaynes, Garrett Gardner, and Zack Stone

Solo artist and impressionist, Nick Walker

Campbell Harrison and Friends with Garrett Gardner, Nick Shelton, and Steven Martin

The Good Looks with Ben Shytle, Casey Long, Justin Wren, Jeremy Wren, and Mitchell Blanton

Ty Manning and the Slawdog Biscuits with Scotty Nicholson, Adam Poulin, Derrick Warren, and John Joseph           and

Our very own MCHS Faculty Band with Ty Manning, Colby Anderson, Andy Biersmith, Brandon York, Holly Schultz, and Travis Rice.  We all agree you need to get together more often!

Thanks to Mark “Doc” Wilson for being our Emcee for the evening, and to Dr. Stan DeJarnett for a special appearance.  Great to have both of you back at MCHS.

Thanks to the MCHS Culinary Department and Chef Chris Rountree for the Last Jam Jam.  If they sell their jam again, you need some!

Thanks to Roland Lewan and his sound and light crew, who spent hours of time planning and setting up a great show.  And thanks to all the volunteers who came to help us during the evening.

Many thanks to Green Room sponsors, who kept our bands well fed:

Homebuilders Class (Redeemer Church), Madison Baptist, Tiffany Ellenberg, Redeemer Church, Fusion Church, Pagett and Whetzel, Ag South, Farm Bureau, Margaret Ligon, Amici, Gibbs Memorial Church

And many thanks to our Band Booster sponsors, who keep the MCHS Band program running:

Madison Car Care, Madison Rental, Dirt and Rock, Breco Realty, Knights of Columbus, Paschal Orthodontics, Antique Sweets, NuArt Printers, John and Erin Garrett of State Farm, Scarlet Torok and Ann Bell, Realtors, M. Qader A. Baig, Attorney at Law.

And, of course, thanks to everyone who was able to join us for a rocking evening!

We loved creating a wonderful concert to help us remember all the great times we’ve had and the talent we’ve grown in our former MCHS auditorium.  We look forward to many years of Fine Arts performances in our new auditorium, which thanks to our generous community, will be ready by the end of this year. As we say in the South, “A great time was had by all!”
