Donnis Lynne Williams Davenport, 54, of 1671 Bethany Church Road, Madison, Georgia transitioned to eternal rest Friday, December 7, 2018. Donnis was born to Beverly Gordon, and the late Mike McDowell Williams on December 1, 1964. She accepted Christ early in life and was a faithful member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. Donnis was the eldest granddaughter of the late Leona Mapp and was affectionally called “Donny Doll”. Donnis was a devoted and loving mother. Her greatest blessings were her two children, Zachary and Jamelyn. She was very proud of their accomplishments and loved spending quality time with them.

 Ms. Donnis Davenport received her education from Piedmont College and Argosy University and began her teaching career at the Morgan County Primary School. For the next 22 years, Donnis loved working as a kindergarten teacher. She adored and loved on each child that she encountered, creating lasting impressions.  Teaching was her gift, and she enjoyed helping “her children.” She was known and loved by “her parents.” She created a forever sisterhood and sibling-hood with her colleagues. Donnis was an amazing cook. She loved sharing her recipes, but the food never tasted quite the same as hers. Donnis loved “popping the block” with her mother, lovingly referred to as “Miss Daisy.” Donnis was always fashionably dressed wearing scarves and sometimes hats.

Donnis leaves to cherish her precious memory: her parents Mr. and Mrs. Milledge Gordon, Jr.; children  Zachary Williams and Jamelyn Davenport; siblings, Kimblyn Binion, Michelle Williams-Radix, Mike Thompkins, Michael Williams and Amira Williams; and a host of special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

 Funeral services were held 12:00 noon Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Springfield Baptist Church, Madison, Georgia, Dr. Kenneth Jones, Pastor, officiated the service; interment followed in the church cemetery.
