Winners of this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards, presented by Lake Oconee Living magazine, were recognized this weekend in true Roaring 20s fashion during the Best of Lake Oconee awards gala at the Oconee Brewing Company in Greensboro.

More than 4,000 votes were cast to determine the Best of Lake Oconee in categories ranging from food and dining to arts and culture. Winners were revealed during the awards ceremony and are featured in the current issue of Lake Oconee Living, on stands now.

The Roaring 20s-themed event also celebrated a milestone for the magazine, which recently marked its 20th year in publication.

“We felt the Roaring 20s theme was especially appropriate this year as we marked our anniversary,” said Art Director Danielle Hawkins. “Everyone always seems to enjoy dressing for the occasion, and this year’s event was certainly no exception.”

The gala was held at the Oconee Brewing Company, winner of this year’s Best Special Event Venue. Presenters for the evening included members of The Usual Suspects, a local theater group that holds murder mystery fundraisers throughout the lake for various causes. Live music rounded out the evening, performed by Tim Cadiere, winner of Best Musician.
