The Bulldog track teams continue to gain valuable experience as they look toward the Region Tournament in April.  Coach Aubrey Fortson has always said that the regular season is preparation for that tournament and the State Meets beyond.  He told us, “The tri-meet we had this week with Greene and Putnam at home was some of the best in terms of how we competed since I’ve been her as the Head Coach at Morgan County.  There was tremendous fan turnout from all three schools that made the meet that much more exciting.  We have made huge progress in our second year.  Last year we only had about 30 kids participating.  This year that number is up around 55 and we may still be getting some basketball players next week for the boys.”

The boys’ and girls’ teams took first place in that event with 58 and 61 points respectively before traveling to another big meet over the weekend at Heritage.  “This was the second big meet we have attended this year at their school and they do a great job.  The competition is stiff.  We were the only team competing from AAA against much larger schools.  The kids competed and that’s all you can ask for by finishing sixth in the boys’ meet and seventh in the girls’.”

Three-sport star Seth Robertson broke his own school records in the triple and long jump competition at Heritage while Tiana Adams set the school standard in the discus with a record throw of her own.

Below you will find the results from Tuesday’s meet with Putnam and Greene.
