It’s that time of the year again. Warm enough to plant those new flowers you purchased and beautiful enough to bring the dogs out to the 7th Annual Morgan County Bark for Life event on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bill Wood Park.
Bark for Life is a fundraiser that benefits the American Cancer Society and the Humane Society of Morgan County. The community is invited to bring the entire family, especially the “four-legged tail wagging family members” as seen on the flyer, for a day of doggy contests, canine demos, family photos, trivia, $3 lunches, crafter booths, live music from Doc 103.9, and dancing contests.
Beth Bradley, the creator and organizer of the event, shares deep sentiment with the heart of the fundraiser.
“I help organize this event with all my heart,” Bradley shared. “I know how cancer effects a family and how much I love my dogs. I look forward to seeing everyone come out to the event and have a great time. The smiles on those who attend makes all the hard work mean that much more.”
Bradley, a cancer survivor of 25 years, has fought her battle with Stage 4 Hodgkin through the rigors of chemotherapy and radiation, and in awareness of the toll the disease has on physical, mental, and financial health of the individuals and their families, curated an event to aid other cancer fighters in their battle.
“Cancer is a disease that can occur at all ages, humane or animal,” Bradley said. “The monies raised from Relay for Life pays for many programs that assist cancer patients. The monies raised for HSMC pays for the care of the rescue animals…to help them find a forever home!”
