MadisonFest returns to Town Park April 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free to the public, everyone is invited to enjoy live music, crafting for kids, face painting, baby animals, and so much more on top of shopping for handmade crafts.
“About 1500 people attended MadisonFest last year,” remarked Colleen Hall, special events coordinator for the City of Madison, who hopes to see a larger number this year. First occurring in 1997, this festival has expanded the number of activities and vendors over the past 22 years. Interact with alpacas and baby goats; expand your knowledge through informative talks on bee keeping, attracting bluebirds and creating ideal conditions for them to nest, and solar energy; relax in the Wellness Tent with yoga; go by food vendors for lunch, a snack, or a cold beer; and take some time to look around nearly 50 tents for handmade arts and crafts, local food, plants, and businesses. One tent in particular will sell and auction off over 200 birdhouses for Habitat for Humanity’s Project Bluebird, in which proceeds go to benefit the next Habitat build. Live music will play all day in The Children’s Garden, featuring Soul Committee, Silver Strings Bluegrass, Pickled Holler, Angela Easterling Duo, The Lucky Jones, and Michael Jacobs.
This year’s Presenting Sponsor is Madison Realty. Other sponsors are Amelia’s Apparel, America’s Natural Gas, DOCK 103.9 FM, Main St. Vet, UnitedBank, Whidby Jewelers, and the Morgan County Citizen.
