Neighborhood cameras and a wide investigative effort led to the arrest of two people in connection with a burglary in the Madelyn Lane neighborhood.

According to Chief Deputy Keith Howard, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremy Bryan, 29, Covington and Stephine Reyes, 28, were both arrested in connection with the Friday, April 26 burglary of the residence. Bryan and Reyes were arrested on Sunday, May 5 after Morgan County investigators tracked the couple down to an Econo Lodge in Conyers.

A Honda dirt bike valued at $4,000; a Yamaha Kodiak four-wheeler valued at $6,000 and a $500 pressure washer where taken from the residence. The complainant told officers that the items had to be stolen sometime between 4:42 p.m. and 5:23 p.m. Investigators were able to obtain a photo of a truck with the items leaving the residence.

The complainant was familiar with the driver of the truck and the investigation led deputies to a Nwtown County residence where the pressure washer was confiscated.

Officers left flyers describing the suspects at various motels in Rockdale and Newton counties and that effort paid off when a motel employee called police and described Bryan and Reyes as guests at the Econo Lodge. The employee rented the couple a room while officers from Morgan County drove to the motel.

They were then arrested at 11 p.m. Bryan has been charged with burglary and Reyes with party to the crime of burglary, both felony charges.
