A Madison man was arrested last week after Georgia Bureau of Investigations agents responded to complaints regarding inappropriate behavior with a 12-year-old girl.
DeWayne Joyner, 57, was arrested by the GBI on July 26, one day after the organization secured a child molestation arrest warrant against Joyner.
According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the child’s relatives on July 18 regarding an allegation that the child had been “touched inappropriately.” The sheriff’s office turned the investigation over to the GBI.
According to Assistant Special Agent In Charge Mary Chandler. Chandler said the child was forensically interviewed on July 24.
She also said that on July 25 a second alleged victim “came forward and disclosed that DeWayne Joyner had molested her when she was a minor.”
Joyner remains incarcerated at the Morgan County Detention Center.
