The Annual Festival of Friends fundraiser was last Saturday, August 19 to benefit Morgan Medical Center (MMC).
The event was held at the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center with over 275 people in attendance.
The hospital is still calculating how much money the event raised but leaders were thrilled with the turnout.
“It was most certainly a successful evening!” said Megan Morris, public relations director for MMC. “Proceeds from the event will be used towards the purchase of a ventilator and a portable ultrasound machine, both vital pieces of equipment for diagnosing and treating the increasing number of patients that we are seeing at Morgan Medical.”
“Fundraisers such as the Festival of Friends allow us to stay current with medical technology advances and serve our community as a patient-focused center of excellence,” said MMC CEO Ralph Castillo. “Thank you , to the auxiliary members who work diligently to pull the event together, and to our community members who come out and show their support.”
Tickets to the event were $50 each. The event featured more than 100 auction items to bid on including three international trips to Costa Rica, Tuscany, and Antigua, as well as eight biddable dinner parties. The event also featured heavy hor d’oeuvres, cocktails, music and dancing. “Special thanks to Whidby Jewelers for donating our raffle item, Lady’s Rose’ 14KT earrings retailing at $1,000,” said Morris.
“We are grateful to our community for their incredible support! The 275 individuals who purchased tickets, local businesses and families who donated more than 175 auction items, and the countless others who were unable to attend but made donations or bought raffle tickets, were instrumental in making the event the success that it was,” said Morris. “This year we were able to offer a new feature with a series of biddable dinners up for auction. These dinners will allow the celebration to continue throughout the year as groups gather in local homes to enjoy meals that were purchased through the hospital auction. Our generous hosts have planned some incredible dinners that are sure to provide fun stories for many years to come!”
