Don’t miss the opportunity to help local furry friends without a home by attending Sunday’s Pistons for Paws charity event to benefit the Humane Society of Morgan County. The event, slated for Sunday, Sept. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be held in Downtown Madison on West Jefferson Street, featuring an array of motorcycles, trucks, and cars on display amidst other fun activities.
“This is a family event for everyone to enjoy,” said Beth Bradley. “Come have lunch with us and enjoy the show.”
The event will also feature food trucks, craft vendors, live music and face-painting.
While the event is free, the Humane Society is asking the participants to donate the following items for the shelter: liquid laundry detergent, bleach. Purina Dog or puppy food, Purina cat or kitten food, scoopable cat litter; and $5 Walmart gift cards.
“These are five of the most used items at the center,” said Bradley.
Any money or resources raised through next week’s event will be used to benefit the non-profit, no-kill shelter.
“The monies will be used to take care of the animals until they find a forever home.
Our goal is to have 100 vehicles and motorcycles,” said Bradley.
It cost $20 to register a vehicle at the event, plus one donated item.
According to Bradley, the HSMC currently has 80 adoptable dogs and cats in need of homes. HSMC adopted out 452 in 2018 and so far this year 300 for 2019. HSMC totally relies on grants and community donations to run the shelter.
