For the second year in a row, the community has gathered to support our local furry friends through the fundraiser Pistons for Paws.
Last weekend, the Humane Society of Morgan County (HSMC) orchestrated a downtown car, truck and motorcycle show that also featured food trucks, craft vendors, live music and face-painting. More than 35 cars lined the downtown Madison streets.
“The 2nd annual Piston for Paws Charity car show for HSMC was a SUCCESS!” said Beth Bradley, organizer of the event. “All monies raised and items given go to HSMC to support the shelter while we find forever homes for the dogs and cats. We have found forever homes for 300 plus animals so far this year.”
The event not only raised money for the shelter, but supplies.
“The community came out and supported the event with show cars and donations. The goal set was made plus more! The ‘Stuff the Truck’ donations were great — too many to count.”
Bradley was grateful for all the local partners that made last weekend’s Pistons for Paws possible.
“I would like to say thank you to all the businesses who donated to the event and all the participates/community who attended,” said Bradley.
The HSMC is a no-kill shelter that operates solely on grants and donations from the public. According to Bradley, the HSMC currently has 80 adoptable dogs and cats in need of homes. HSMC adopted out 452 in 2018 and so far this year 300 for 2019.
