Ruth Lee Williams, 823, of Dayton, Ohio was born September 21, 1937 in Buckhead in Morgan County to the late Thomas and Hester Johnson. She was educated in her native land and graduated from Pearl High School. She attended two years of college at Fort Valley State College, where she was crowned Ms. Peach Blossom. She worked as a private duty nurse and nurse’s aide. Ruth retired from General Motors after 30 years of service on the assembly production line. Ruth was baptized as a child and grew up as a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Ruth was family oriented, a good mother who loved her children and grandchildren and instilled strong morals in them. She was the matriarch of her family. Ruth grew up on a farm and enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed decorating and holidays were always a special time when the family was close together.
Ruth Lee Williams transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord on September 12, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Williams; one daughter Sumbra Melodie Brown and one son, Warren Albert Favors Jr. Ruth was the last of nine siblings and was also preceded in death by four sisters, Willie Bell, Hazel, Marien and Lillian Johnson; four brothers Brightwell, Thomas, Henry “Bob” and Hubert Johnson.
She leaves to cherish precious memories and celebrate her life one loving daughter Christal Favors; two loving sons Dino (Deana Collins) Favors and Walter (Anita) Favors; 15 beloved grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; special nieces Debra Jolly, Jacqueline “Jackie” Hampton and Betty Banks; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
Her funeral service was held September 12, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Bishop Timothy Kendall officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Jones and Turner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
