Locals and out-of-town visitors chowed down on Madison’s finest selection of home cooked chili last Saturday at the 15th Annual Downtown Chili Cook Off and Fall Festival.
With 785 wristbands sold, Town Park was packed with attendees enjoying the fall weather while savoring samples of fresh chili.
This year’s winners were announced and awarded at the end of the festival. The CASE Georgia State Champ went to Veni Miller of Douglasville, Ga. The Showmanship Award went to Kenny Stewart for Sheriff. There were three OPEN Chili Winners, In first place, Good Neighbors Chili, lead by Ed Freeman of Madison, Ga. In second place, Peak Steel Contractors, led by Will George, of Madison, Ga. In third place, Bubba & Cha Cha’s Chil, lead by Veni Miller of Douglasville, Ga.
Likewise, there were three CASI Chili winners chosen. First place went to Sweet Evil Chili, lead by Richard Geiger of Chicago, Il. Second place went to Faded Love Chili Co. lead by Linda Carey, of W Hoover, Al. Third place went to Bubba and Cha Cha’s Chili, lead by Veni Miller of Douglasville, Ga.
The People’s Choice Awards selected three winners as well. First place went to Peak Steel Contractors, lead by Will George of Madison, Ga. Second Place went to Bubba’s ‘Ghostly’ Chili, lead by Norman Knock of Greensboro, Ga. and Third Place went to Dusty Boot Cookshed, lead by Joey Davidson, of Lizella, Ga.
