Leslie Lanier Cowart

Leslie Lanier Cowart, age 71, of Madison, Georgia Friday, November 15, 2019 at Morgan Medical Center in Madison.  A native of Miami, Florida and born December 17, 1947, he was the son of the late John Moses and Lucille Patrick Cowart.  He graduated from Belle Glade High School in  Belle Glade, Fla. and attended Asbury University in Willmore, Ky.  He married the former Carol Crisler on February 26, 1972.  He returned to Madison in 2018 after living in Kentucky close to his daughter.  He served as pastor of many churches in the North Georgia and South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Before retiring he was serving as pastor at the United Methodist Churches in Union Point, Siloam and White Plains.  His many interests included photography, music and singing.  He was a family man who doted on his children and grandchildren.  

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carol Cowart of Madison; daughter, Elizabeth Tingle of Madison; grandchildren: Patrick, Caroline, Kaedence and Matthew Tingle; brother, Wayne Cowart of Portland, Maine; niece, Cayce James; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his son, John Charles Addison Cowart.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 18, at 11 a.m. at Bostwick United Methodist Church, 5741 Bostwick Road, Bostwick, GA  30623 with Rev. Doug Jordan officiating. Burial  followed in the Bostwick Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time for the service at the church.  Serving as pallbearers were Greg Peace, Eli Peace, Butch Malcom, Ronnie Maxwell, David Nunn and Dennis Blais. Frances Ivie Harman

Frances Ivie Harman, 88, died November 14, 2019.  She was born June 15, 1931 in Milledgeville to Elbert Homer Ivie and Alice Edwards Ivie.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Harman.  Mrs. Harman was a member of Buckhead Baptist Church.  She was retired from Rock Eagle 4-H Center where she worked in the cafeteria.  Before that, she worked at Crowe”s BBQ and Bonner’s Restaurant.  Mrs. Harman enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and genuinely loved people.

Mrs. Harman is survived by two sons, Dennis Huff and Sharon and John Carl Huff.  She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Huff.  She leaves two sisters, Gwen Alliston and Juanita McDade.  Grandchildren are Brian Huff, Justin Huff, Leslie Huff Malone, Jill Huff Cox and Bonnie Huff Bell.  Her great grandchildren are Trenton Huff, Sarah Huff, Brooks Malone, Brody Malone, Lyla Malone, Benjamin Cox, Lilly Cox, Cadance Bell and numerous step grandchildren.

The family received friends on Sunday, November 17 from 5-7 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  The funeral service was held on Monday, November 18 at 2 p.m. at Buckhead Baptist Church.  Interment followed at the Swords Cemetery.
