Some of us may have had a summer vacation to Florida, California, New York or even Lake Oconee and some of you got all excited about Daytona Beach! But then there are those Madisonians who were fortunate enough to travel out of the country. Brush up on your Italian because it seems there is someone going or coming from Italy weekly. Is it the monuments or architecture of Rome, Naples, Florence; or is it the seafood of Venice or the homemade pasta of Tuscany or the wine of which no Italian meal would be complete? Or, could it be the beautiful landscapes, art, fashion, culture and so much more. To leave all you Southerners “pisello verde con invidia,” enjoy the comments and photos from a few of our citizens who are sharing their wonderful memories of Italy.
Dee and Calla Pederson We went to Rome, Sorrento and the Isle of Capri, Florence, Pisa, the Cinque Terre, and Milan. It was wonderful – good food, warm people, historical perspectives, and a sense of awe were experienced each day during our two-week trip. Manarola and Vernazza are two of the coastal villages that make up the Cinque Terre – all five villages are connected by a coastal trail, which we hiked portions of while we were there.
