Warrants, search leads to meth arrests in Rutledge

Police attempting to execute an arrest warrant on a Centennial Road resident ended up adding drug charges to both the suspect and a woman at the residence.

According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Avery Lee Long, 28, Rutledge and Brittany McCoy, 31, Rutledge were both arrested at 9 a.m. on drug charges after officers serving the arrest warrant also performed a Fourth Amendment search on Long’s residence, a camper trailer parked behind a residence off Centennial Road.

Inside the camper, reports state, where a black plastic container containing more than 70 small clear plastic baggies; “cut straws” with suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, glass pipe, lighter and marijuana grinder.

A small mirror with two “lines” of suspected methamphetamine were found in a refrigerator in the camper. 

A green and white pill grinder with half a suspected Ambient pill was found in a bedroom area of the camper and a “Cheech and Chong” digital scale was allegedly located in the central area of the trailer.

Both Long and McCoy will be charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects and possession of Schedule IV narcotics.
