It was a full week of round ball for the Morgan County High School’s junior varsity and Morgan County Middle School’s basketball squads.
Report from Coach Candi Wyatt on JV girls:
According to Wyatt, her squad played well against a very tough Jefferson team 31-20 this past Friday. Morgan got six points from Trinesha Jones, four from Andrea Cooper and Sidda Outlaw, and three points from Bailey McDaniel. The teams played their final home game before the break against Jackson County this past Tuesday and will return to action on Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. vs. Monroe Area.
Report from Coach Brian Green on JV boys:
The JV boys split their two games this week by defeating East Jackson Tuesday 55-52 in a road win before falling to Jefferson 43-27 Friday. Morgan’s offense was led by Rogers Clark’s 16 points in the win over EJ and Corey Chatham pitched in with nine. At Jefferson, it was Tee Nelson leading the charge with 14 and a bevy of others in the low single digits. The boys will return to action on Friday, Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in a home matchup with Monroe Area.
Report from Coach Brian Cousins on MCMS girls:
The girls defeated rivals Carver Middle School of Monroe and Monticello last week in PAC games. The MCMS teams will finish up their schedules this week with a home game on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at home vs. Putnam County. Games are slated for 5 p.m.for the girls and 6 p.m. for the boys.
