After taking a Tuesday loss to Hart County 46-42, the JV boys rebounded for back-to-back wins over the weekend. The wins over East Jackson 79-50 and Jones County 56-54, along with the close loss to a talented Hart County team, show the improvement this young group has made under Coach Brian Green.
Morgan trailed 4-0 in the early minutes to East Jackson before taking the lead at 5-4 with 4:50 and never looked back after that. Rogers Clark and TJ Thompson led the offensive attack in the first period. The two scored every one of Morgan’s 14 to take a 14-9 advantage after the first quarter of play. A pair of three’s by Tee Nelson and six points from Trevion Alexander in the second period propelled the team to a 39-26 lead at the half.
Harrison Peaster got cranked up in the second half making good on three long range jumpers to give the home team the lift they needed for the victory.
Saturday’s win came on a last-second layup from Rogers Clark to defeat the Grayhounds of Jones County. Leading scorers included Reggie Ross 1, Christian Johnson 8, TJ Thompson 6, Cooper Easterday 4, Peaster 1, Nelson 10, Rogers Clark 16, Mason Jackson 2, Anary Warren 2, Tre Hawkins 2, Alexander 2.
The JV will play again this week in a rematch with Jones County Saturday. Tipoff is 1:00 for JV girls with the boys JV playing at 2:30 p.m.
