New Shop in town! I visited Madison’s newest shop and it’s flat fabulous! It’s called Archambault Interiors and it’s a mother-daughter owned, full-service interior design firm for new construction, remodeling, renovation and residential design projects! Amanda Archambault, the principle designer, actually launched her company in 2015 after graduating from design school. Her momma and co-owner Sharon Archambault is the CEO and Interior Consultant. The shop/office opened in Madison at 217 West Jefferson Street right down from Teal! Ok so I popped in there to check it out and it’s just beautiful! Furniture, lamps, art, accessories, designer fabric, wall paper and rugs adorn the space showcasing some of their favorite high-end brands and items created by local artists.  Y’all head over there ASAP!

And speaking of heading over there, the next Women In Business meeting hosted by Madison-Morgan Chamber of Commerce will be held at the new Archambault Interiors shop on Wednesday, Feb. 12 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.  Pop over to the shop and enjoy a tour and learn all about interiors from Amanda and Sharon!  A casual lunch will be served for only $12! There is limited space so y’all please call Shey Daniel at 706-438-3120, ext 1504 or email her at sdaniel@madisonga.org! See y’all there!

SCAM ALERT! Heads up y’all! The Devil is busy and he’s tryin’ to steal your money!  Ok so I just got off the phone with Morgan County resident Kristin Breeden. She told me a caller left a cell phone message from an unrecognized number (1-800-695-7968). The automated message claimed to represent Georgia Power and told her they were going to disconnect her power due to lack of payment. Well Kristin knew her balance was zero and that it was a fake, scam call! The message told her to call another number (1-800-807-6689) to pay the balance on her account. ALERT: It’s a great big fat SCAM!

Georgia Power Media relations rep Chad Nation was super helpful and said customers should beware of phone calls demanding payment via phone and that Georgia Power will never ask for a credit card or pre-paid debit card number over the phone. If you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from Georgia Power and demanding payment to avoid disconnection, hang up, confirm Georgia Power’s actual customer service number (888-660-5890) and call them right away. Pizza Hut, owned by GPS Hospitality, closed its Madison location Monday. A representative at the restaurant said the store closed to decreased sales and that the company also closed two locations in Athens.

Georgia Ag Forecast News.  Ok Morgan County farmers! The 2020 forecast is in from Adam Rabinowitz, UGA agricultural economist. Among his predictions are: a slowdown of Georgia beef growth with flat; modest dairy price increases due to reduced availability of replacement heifers; growth of 5 percent in pork prices due to the African Swine Flu that has shattered pork production overseas; an increase in poultry broiler production; and a decline in cotton acreage and production due to market uncertainties about trade and the slowing global economy. As to timber, Adam says that lumber prices have declined significantly from 2018 but are holding steady at $350 per thousand board feet. And, finally, he says land values will hold steady and may increase on highly productive land.

Ok y’all that’s it for the Buzz on Biz! Y’all be sweet and I’ll see you next week in Georgia’s Number One Weekly Newspaper as ranked by the Georgia Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest!
