Grand Jury returns criminal indictments

The Morgan County Grand Jury met on Monday, March 3 and returned several true bills regarding criminal indictments. The following persons were indicted.

Christopher Shawn Robbins, 23, Madison was indicted on one count possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce and one count possession of drug related objects. According to court documents, Robbins was arrested on Oct. 12, 2019 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that Robbins was arrested in the Pilot Travel Center parking lot, Eatonton Road. after officers observed him strike a parked car with his own car. Following the strike, deputies alleged that they smelled marijuana coming from Robbins’ vehicle and allegedly located a glass jar containing suspected marijuana, a digital scale and two loaded firearms. Warrants allege that Robbins was also wearing a ballistic vest.

William Antonio Barnes, 47, Madison was indicted on one count aggravated assault. According to court documents, Barnes was arrested on Dec. 31, 2019 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that Barnes struck a man at a Pinetree Circle residence with a glass globe, causing multiple lacerations to the man’s head that required six staples to close.

Taylor Markia Janea Lewis, 22, Bastrop, Texas was indicted on one count crossing the guard line with contraband, one count possession of methamphetamine and one count possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. According to court documents, Lewis was arrested on Jan. 31, 2020 by a Madison Police Department officer. Warrants allege that a vehicle in which Lewis was a passenger was stopped for speeding on Interstate 20 and consequent to that stop the officer located a cigarette box in the vehicle that contained suspected marijuana. While Lewis was being searched prior to being detained in the Morgan County Detention Center officers also found a second cigarette box that contained suspected methamphetamine.

Valerie Nicole Johnson, 43, Watkinsville was indicted on one count reckless conduct. According to court documents, Johnson was arrested on Jan. 9, 2020 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that on Jan. 3 Johnson drove recklessly in a driveway on Eatonton Highway, putting a man’s life at risk.

Curtis Leon Bolden, 46, Madison was indicted on one count possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, one count possession of methamphetamine, one count possession of a drug related object and two counts possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to court documents, Bolden was arrested on Dec. 7, 2019 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that on Dec. 6, 2019 during a probation search of Bolden’s Seven Islands Road residence officers located in Bolden’s truck 3.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 2.9 grams of an unknown white powder and a pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue. Inside the residence warrants allege deputies found a .270 Remington and a 9 mm Sig Sauer pistol.

Caroline Marie Benkoski, 57, Madison was indicted on two counts sale of methamphetamine. According to court documents, Benkoski was arrested on Jan. 8, 2020 by a Madison Police Department officer. Warrants allege that Benkoski, on two separate occasions, sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a Plum Street residence.

Andrew Jalien Richardson, 41, Madison was indicted on two counts sale of cocaine. According to court documents, Richardson was arrested on Jan. 16, 2020 by a Madison Police Department officer. Warrants allege that two separate occasions within the city limits of Madison Richardson sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant.

Arnold Merle McDonald, 60, Monroe was indicted on one count child molestation and two counts enticing a child for indecent purposes. According to court documents, McDonald was arrested by a Madison Police Department officer on Feb. 21, 2020. Warrants allege that McDonald allegedly inappropriately touched a 6-year-old girl while playing hide and go seek at a Micha Way residence.

William Riley Downs, Jr. 47, Madison  was indicted on one count terroristic threats. According to court documents, Downs was arrested on Aug. 18, 2019 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that on Aug. 18, 2019 at a Clack Road residence Downs, in the presence of law enforcement officers and other witnesses threatened to kill a man. The alleged threat was also captured on video, warrants allege. 

Deyondray Markee White, 19, Madison was indicted one count possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, one count possession of cocaine, one count possession of oxycodone, one count drugs not in original container, one count open container and one count battery. According to court documents, White was arrested on Dec. 31, 2019 by a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputy. Warrants allege that at a James Street residence White allegedly struck a woman in the face and snatched a purse from her, injuring her neck. At a Park Street location, officers arrested White and consequent to the arrest allegedly found suspected ocycodone, cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale and half empty Corona beer.
