On March 13, a theft by taking complaint was filed at TA Truck Stop, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman reported that two trucks and a flatbed trailer were missing. The woman said the vehicles had not been used for “sometime” and had been left at the truck stop. The woman said the last time the equipment was seen was Feb. 25.
On March 3, Terrance Kennedy, 25, Columbia, S.C. was arrested and charged with speeding and possession of marijuana. According to reports, a vehicle Kennedy was driving on Interstate 20 was stopped for going 113 mph in a 70 mph zone. Consequent to a traffic stop, an officer reportedly smelled green marijuana coming from the vehicle. Reports state that a small glass jar of suspected marijuana was found in the back passenger floorboard.
On March 17, a dispute complaint was filed at a Foster’s Street residence. According to reports, a woman alleged that two women came to her house at 9:30 p.m. and started an argument with her regarding a political stance she took on Facebook. The complainant alleged that the two women pulled her hair, scratched her face and pulled her clothing. She also said they broke her glasses. The woman said she did not want an officer to talk to the women but wanted the incident on the record. The following day, however, the women came to the Madison Police Department. One woman alleged that the complainant posted “disturbing” comments on Facebook regarding the woman’s political beliefs. The woman said she went to the complainant’s Foster Street residence at her invitation and was accompanied by the second woman. The woman alleged that when she arrived at the Foster Street residence, the complainant was allegedly intoxicated, became upset and allegedly starting screaming obscenities at the woman. The woman also alleged that the complainant approached her in “an aggressive manner” but the second, younger woman prevented an assault.
On March 20, a theft by conversion complaint was filed at Lowe’s, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman said a man she had hired to complete renovations at her home had taken the woman’s personal credit card and purchased items not necessary for the job. The woman estimated that the man had made $949.26 in unapproved purchases. The woman has also filed complaints against the man in Putnam and Greene counties.
On March 21, an information report was filed at a Micha Way residence. According to reports, a woman alleged that while she slept her nephew took her 2017 Nissan Maxima. Reports state that the vehicle was recovered in Putnam County after a wreck and that the nephew was arrested and charged with DUI and driving while license suspended. Reports state that the vehicle was totaled in the wreck.
On March 21, an information report was filed at Walmart, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman said after she paid for items from the store, she misplaced her black and white wallet.
On March 22, Zacchaeus Maurice Bennett, 21, Madison was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute, possession of open alcohol container, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana less than an ounce. According to reports, Bennett and a juvenile female were asleep in a vehicle parked on Green Meadows Drive. Reports state that officers arrived regarding a complaint of a vehicle blocking a driveway. Once on the scene, reports state, officers allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle in which Bennett and the juvenile sat. A consequent search allegedly produced a bag with multiple small clear plastic bags. A plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was also found. A clear glass jar with two white pills was also allegedly found in the console of the vehicle. Officers also allegedly found an open Hennessy bottle in the vehicle.
On March 8, Lawrence James Gardner, 39, Newborn, was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce and possession of open alcohol container. According to reports, officers were called to a vehicle wreck at the intersection of Monticello Road and the Interstate 20 east bound exit ramp. An officer allegedly asked Gardner for his license and Gardner searched for them while the officer removed the license from his wallet and gave it back to him while he continued to search for the wallet. Reports state that consequent to arrest, officers also allegedly found one open container and a small bag of suspected marijuana in Gardner’s vehicle.
On March 9, an identity fraud complaint was filed at Security Finance, Eatonton Road. According to reports, a woman alleged that a woman known to her and who was with her recently while the complainant purchased a vehicle.
The complainant said that the woman had used her identity to make a $341.54 loan. The complainant also alleged that the woman had used her identity to make loans in her name in Butler, Athens, Crawford, Eatonton and Milledgeville. The complainant was able to identify the suspect by a photo provided by the business.
