On April 29 Marquis Deshon Abrams, 20, Sumter, S.C. was arrested and charged with DUI drugs, failure to maintain lane and possession of marijuana, less than an ounce. According to reports, an officer was dispatched to Interstate 20 at 1:37 a.m. regarding a vehicle driving recklessly in the westbound lane. The officer parked near the 114 exit ramp and observed a Jeep driven by Abrams exit the interstate. The vehicle failed to stop initially for the officer’s emergency equipment and turned left onto U.S. 441 and, reports state, was traveling in the wrong lane. Consequent to a traffic stop and sobriety test, the officer allegedly located a small marijuana joint, a plastic bag that had small pieces of suspected marijuana and a plastic bag with white powder residue.
On May 1 a theft by taking complaint was filed at an Eatonton Road location. According to reports, a man alleged that someone had taken the car tag from his black Range Rover.
On April 29 Jason Wayne Couch, 47, Monroe was arrested and charged with DUI, violation of handicap parking and possession of open alcohol container. According to reports, an officer was called to the Travel Center of America truck stop, Eatonton Road at midnight in reference to a man standing in the parking lot with his pants around his ankles. When the officer arrived, reports state, she allegedly found Couch standing near the door of a white pickup that had backed into a handicap space. Reports allege that Couch was unsteady while talking to an officer and allegedly told the officer that another man had driven the truck to the truck stop and then had left with a second man. A second officer reviewed video surveillance that allegedly showed Couch driving into the truck stop parking lot and backing the vehicle into the handicap parking space.
