Two Atlanta men were detained and arrested after they allegedly crashed a truck stolen from the Morgan County campus of the Georgia Department of Transportation.
According to Chief Deputy Keith Howard, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Lazar Arline, 20, and Patrick Kelly Moore, 48, both have been charged with one count theft by receiving and are currently detained in the DeKalb County Jail.
Howard said Arline and Moore are suspects in a a weekend burglary at the Morgan County DOT campus on Bethany Road where tablet computers, a gas card, an air compressor, generator, pole saw, chainsaw, weed eaters and blowers were taken. During the same weekend, Howard said, the DOT campus in Covington was also burglarized.
On Monday Morgan County Sgt. Chase Young and GBI Special Agent Debra Loving responded to an electronic tracking signal on a Ford truck that had been stolen from Morgan County. Before Young and Loving arrived at the truck’s location, they were informed that the truck was on the move. Sgt. Young passed the truck and the driver of the truck noticed that Young had turned around to pursue.
The truck attempted to elude Young in a busy intersection and struck a MARTA bus, forcing it to stop. Arline and Moore both fled on foot but were apprehended by Loving and Young.
