The Morgan County Humane Society holds its third annual “Pistons for Paws” charity parade this Sunday, September 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Vehicles will line up at the Walmart Super Center parking lot, while golf carts will line up in the Napa and yoga studio parking lots. The parade will then proceed into downtown Madison. The lineup consists of trucks, motorcycles, and golf carts.
To enter, a $20 fee is due along with a donation of liquid laundry detergent, bleach, Purina dry puppy food, Purina cat chow, scoopable cat litter, or an Ingles or Walmart gift card. All proceeds will go to benefit the Humane Society.
Event organizer, Beth Bradley, said all profits will be used for daily care of the rescue animals, food, and medical needs. She said they hope to raise a couple thousand dollars and “a truck full of stuff.”
The Humane Society of Morgan County prides themselves on being a no-kill shelter. “A cat or dog always will have a home with us until they are adopted into their forever home,” Bradley said. “As of Sept. 14, we have found 293 forever homes for 2020.”
HSMC works hard to benefit the community as well, participating in education programs with the school system and in the Pets Love Vets program which allows veterans to adopt a dog or cat with no fees.
