Don’t miss the chance to support the Morgan County High School (MCHS) and Morgan County Middle School (MCMS) volleyball teams this weekend by taking advantage of the gorgeous Fall weather while running in a virtual 5K race.
“Haven’t heard of a virtual 5K before? That is okay! It is fun and easy, you get to run on your own time and place,” said a spokesperson for Morgan County’s volleyball teams. “Whether you run or walk, you will be supporting our Morgan County Volleyball teams and staying active – a win, win!”
Participants are being asked to run or walk 3.1 miles (5 kilometers) at their own place, on their own time. There is no official race location or time. Run wherever and whenever, and submit your completion time online.
The volleyball teams have put together this special fundraiser, a Virtual 5K from Friday, October 9 to Sunday October 11. It costs $25 dollars to register. The proceeds will go to support the MCHS Volleyball team, which is on its way to compete in the state competitions.
“We are having a fantastic season!” said Kathleen Goodwin, coach of the MCHS Volleyball team. “These girls have won their region and are state-bound, and we are all so happy to be playing volleyball safely this year. They are the highlight of my day every day, and I am so lucky to be their coach.”
If you participant in this weekend’s fundraiser, you can do it from anywhere!
“Anytime and anywhere over that weekend, you can run, or walk or ‘wog’ as I call it,” explained Goodwin. If you complete 3.1 miles you will be entered to win some fun prizes. “Plus, you will get a super cool, student-designed t-shirt and the great feeling of having supported 40+ super awesome volleyball players,” said Goodwin.
First and second place winners in each age group will win gift cards to local Madison establishments. Age groups will be divided up in the following categories: Youth, 18 and under, 19-39, 40-59, and 60-plus.
