A Season To Remember

Staff Written Sports

Morgan County High School Spikedogs volleyball team prevailed as runner-up in the AAA State Championship

Coach Kathleen Goodwin was reflective and proud at the outcome of the championship. “It was a tough loss, and of course we would have loved another outcome, but at the end of the day I am still so proud of what these girls accomplished together. This season they won their area without dropping a set; they made it to the Elite Eight, the furthest any Morgan County team has ever been before, and then they just kept on going– first to the Final Four and then all the way to state finals. The whole experience of going to state was phenomenal. The community support was unreal, from the Dog Walk on Friday and being presented at the football game to the signs lining Main Street in downtown Madison. We left with our heads held high, the title of runner up in state, and some hardwear to prove. It was a great season. I feel very lucky to have been a part of it.”
