Thompson Eugene Sidwell, 83 of Madison, died November 4, 2020. Mr. Sidwell was born in Apalachee on July 24, 1937 to Thompson and Maggie Beal Sidwell. He was a graduate of Morgan County High School where he excelled in sports. He was a member of the 1955 State Championship football team. After high school, Mr. Sidwell joined the United States Navy where he served four years. Following his service to our nation, Mr. Sidwell was married to Frances Adams and he began working for Pennington Seed Company. He spent sixty years with Pennington Seed. Mr. Sidwell was widowed by his wife, Frances at a young age. He devoted himself to their two daughters and was the best father. Mr. Sidwell was an avid golfer. He enjoyed time spent on the lake and he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Mr. Sidwell is survived by his daughters, Tracy Bryant & Keith and Leslie Bryant & Eric as well as Leahanne Sellers & Ray. His grandchildren are Bethany Owens & Payton, James Ravan & Kamann, John Thompson Bryant, Erin Bryant, Joshua Bryant & Mary Frances, Allie Lane, Hal Pritchett, Greta Thomas and Fulton Pritchett. He also leaves eight great grandchildren. Mr. Sidwell leaves a sister, Mary Evelyn Haulk and a brother, Bill Sidwell. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Nichols.
The family received friends on Friday, November 6. The funeral service was held at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7 at 11 AM. Interment followed at the Madison City Cemetery.
