A 23-year-old Rutledge man was killed Friday when he was struck by a train.
According to Georgia State Patrol reports, Timothy Brandon Shore was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic incident. Shore was struck by a CSX train traveling westbound on the rail line in the city limits of Rutledge. The train struck Shore at approximately 10:30 p.m. A GSP report states that Shore was sitting on the rail line between James Street and Fairplay Street in Rutledge when he was struck by the train.
The report says that Shore was thrown 21 feet after being struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Adam Carter. According to Sgt. Justin Howard, medical workers were able to draw blood from Shore. The blood sample was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for review, Howard said.
