Two Madison men were charged with possession of heroin and other drug-related charges after a Morgan County Sheriff’s Office narcotic investigation.
According to Lt. Brandon Sellers, Investigations Division, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Beason Randall Franklin, 32, and Joshua Shane Slaughter, 27, were both arrested on Thursday, Dec. 17 at approximately 4 p.m. after investigators executed a search warrant on a Slaughter-Veasley Road residence.
Franklin was charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin and possession of marijuana, less than an ounce and possession of drug related items. Slaughter was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug related items.
Sellers said investigators entered the residence and found Franklin on the toilet. Two bags of suspected methamphetamine were in the toilet bowl, he said, and were recovered. The bags collectively weighed approximately .5 ounce, Sellers said.
Individual packs of suspected heroin in tin foil packs were distributed around the residence. Investigators found the packs in a living room, bedroom and kitchen.
The investigation started, he said, after investigators received tips from “multiple sources” of alleged drug activity emanating from the residence. “We had heard that a wide array of drug dealers had set up shop at that residence,” he said.
Sellers said investigators performed both electronic and personal surveillance on the residence prior to obtaining the search warrant. Investigators also located digital scales, smoking pipes and baggies at the residence.
