A Rutledge man was arrested and charged with public indecency after he allegedly fondled himself in front of a woman at the Interstate 20 east bound rest area.

According to Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reports, Rodney Mickel Nicholson, 48, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at 3:10 p.m. after a deputy allegedly observed Nicholson leaned back in the rear seat of his vehicle “with his legs spread open.”

Reports state that the deputy had responded to the rest area after a woman had complained that a man at the rest area was “performing sex acts on himself in his vehicle with the door open.”

The deputy said when he arrived, he observed Nicholson “wearing short shorts with a pair of pants hanging off one knee only.”

A woman at the rest area told the deputy that after she had parked, Nicholson allegedly approached her and asked her questions about the make of her vehicle. The woman alleged that he then drove a white Hyundai Sonata and backed it up to the row in which she was parked, approximately two spaces away.

He then allegedly climbed into the rear seat of the Sonata and opened the door and asked “her to come over,” she said. She said he then began to fondle himself “while ordering her to watch.”

The deputy said he found a small green bag of some type of crystal substance laying on the center console of Nicholson’s vehicle. He also reported finding a rolled up dollar bill nearby the bag and a marijuana “roach” in a plastic tube.

Reports state that the crystal substance was tested at the scene and tested positive as methamphetamine. Nicholson was charged with public indecency, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, less than an ounce.
