Elizabeth Hare Benfield, age 79, of Rutledge, formerly of Toccoa, passed away January 14, 2021 at Morgan Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Quinton Benfield and her great-grandson Michael Owen Compton.
She was the daughter of the late Harrison Cooper Hare, she was born in Stephens County, Georgia. She resided the greater part of her life in Toccoa, where she and her husband were poultry farmers. She moved to live with her daughter in Rutledge in 2916. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Eastanolle, where she served faithfully for many years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Freddy Owens of Rutledge; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Teddy Benfield of Rutledge and David and Andrea of Toccoa; eight grandchildren, including Jessica and David Compton of Mansfield and Erik and Laiana Owens of Crestview, Florida; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Holbrooks and Velma Carswell, both of Toccoa; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held January 17, at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Jackson officiating. Interment followed in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
