In a day recapped by tournament organizers as “everyone returned safe” and the “rain wasn’t horrible,” the Georgia BASS Nation High School fishing tournament at Lake Seminole was great for the Morgan County Middle School team of Jackson Fanning and Nolan Holloway. The duo bagged a five-pound bass as one of their three qualifying fish on the day. Their team total of over 11 pounds put them at the top of the leaderboard for the junior division. The team of Trysten Norris and Brody Torbush also qualified with three fish for a tally of just over four pounds and a sixth place finish in the junior division of 40 teams.

The Morgan County High School team had two teams in the top 20 of the 88 boat contest. Caden Nation and Walker Stephens bagged two fish, one at 5.35 pounds, to finish 13th with a total weight of 7.48 pounds. Landon Huff and Will Thomas brought in three fish for just under seven pounds to take 16th place in the event. The finish for Huff and Thomas move them to seventh place in the Angler of the Year contest.

The next opportunities for the teams to hit the water is later this month at Clarks Hill on Feb. 27.
