On December 7 Ashton Phillipi Coates, 27, Athens, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after he allegedly attempted to take a Carehart jacket from Wal Mart, Eatonton Road. According to reports, Coates and a female were in the store and Coates tried on the jacket and then walked around the store, eventually allegedly removing the tags from the jacket. On November 10 Colby Shimoun Jamison, 28, Marietta, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and speeding. According to reports, Jamison was stopped on Interstate 20 at 1:40 a.m. for allegedly driving 90 mph. While the officer was attempting to make a traffic stop, reports state, he observed a passenger throw a plastic bag from the vehicle. Jury says ‘not guilty’ in molestation case, others sentenced

The following cases were adjudicated during a criminal trial week at Morgan County Superior Court last week. Angel A. Hernandez, 32, Euless, Texas, pled guilty to one count of trafficking in marijuana. He was sentenced to 20 years with five years to serve and the remainder to be served on probation. He was fined $100,000.   On October 12 Taranda Hulsey, 27, Sparta, was cited for disorderly conduct. According to reports, Hulsey allegedly threatened a 15-year-old female at a Micha Way apartment.
