MCHS Drama Team performs ‘Women and War’

By Tia Lynn Ivey Managing Editor  Morgan County High School’s (MCHS) drama team took to the stage last week, delivering a riveting performance of a one-act play, titled “Women and War,” written by Jack Hilton Cunningham.  The play centers around women from multiple generations telling “fictional stories based on historical fact.” Through correspondence and monologues, an array of characters deliver moving stories of their experience in every war, from World War I all the way to the War in Afghanistan.    The MCHS Drama Dogs took on the production as …

Alan Richardson, Sports Editor It was all Dogs at East Jackson this past week as both varsity and JV teams brought home the wins.  The Lady Dogs came away with a hotly contested 45-42 victory on the road before losing at Jefferson Friday 68-47 and again on Saturday at Newton 51-39.  It was an eerily similar week for the girls and boys.  The girls fought out a close one at EJ before losing by an almost identical score at Jefferson before playing well against a much bigger Newton …

By Tia Lynn Ivey, Managing Editor The public is invited to the annual Thanksgiving Day Community Meal at Morgan County High School, orchestrated by Calvary Baptist Church and Saint Paul’s AME Church. The meal is a 35-year-long tradition, which seeks to ensure everyone has the opportunity to eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal among friendly faces.  Over the years, individuals, businesses and other churches have donated resources to help with the cost of the event.
