Justin Howard, Georgia State Patrol, nine cars were involved in accidents on Friday, Jan. 3 on I-20 east near mile marker 106. Between the nine cars, there were five crashes with various minor injuries. By Quinn Rafferty, Staff Writer A domestic violence call resulted in the arrest of a Morgan County man for drug possession.  On Dec. 30, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a physical domestic altercation but when police arrived, the male subject had departed the residence. The male subject, Deyondray White, 19, was reported to be driving a black Ford Explorer and headed towards Madison on Greensboro Highway.  Morgan County officer Stubbs located and pulled White over and quickly detected a marijuana odor. The Morgan County Board of Commissioners (BOC) presented awards of service to Ron Zay and the late Ruben Walker for their service to the county.  Zay and Walker’s wife, Hazel Walker, accepted the awards at Tuesday morning’s regular BOC Meeting. Walker served on the Morgan County Tax Assessors Board for two decades and the Development Authority. The plane, a Cessna 172 according to Morgan County Fire and Rescue Director Jeff Stone, was piloted by Millwood Ashley Dekle, 72. As of Dec. 19, just 25 counties out of 159 Georgia counties received the new voting equipment. Morgan County received 72 new voting machines on Dec. 20.  “It’s a lot,” said Jennifer Doran, election supervisor for Morgan County.  In all, the county received 72 touchscreen tablets and 72 printers.  “One of each makes a voting machine,” said Doran.  The county also received 10 ballot boxes, 10 precinct scanners …

The proposed bill has City of Madison leaders, a local governments across the state, worried about the erosion of local control.
