Alan Richardson, Sports Editor The Morgan County girls’ basketball squad got a win over River Ridge (Woodstock), but fell to the host team North Oconee Lady Titans in the Classic City Clash over the weekend.  The split decision brings the girls’ record to 7-9 heading into the second half of the schedule after the holiday break.  According to Coach Timothy Roop, the improved effort from the free throw line was instrumental in the victory over River Ridge as the team made good on all but five attempts.  He …

Alan Richardson, Sports Editor It was a solid week for the MOCO basketball girls going 2-1.  Wins over Jackson County 54-39 and Tucker High School 45-42 highlighted the action with a loss on Saturday to Carver Columbus 87-51 to end the week in the Peach State Holiday Classic at Westlake.   The wins moved the Lady Dogs to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in 8-AAA play with the Jackson County victory. Alan Richardson, Sports Editor In last week’s issue of the Morgan County Citizen, it was noted that further changes by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) would continue to change the landscape as far as reclassification is concerned.  Doug Connelly noted that those changes could dramatically change the region situation as far as Morgan County High School is concerned. Alan Richardson, Sports Editor Morgan County’s middle infield tandem of Dominic Arienzo and Ethan Stamps signed baseball scholarships this past week.  Second baseman Arienzo and shortshop/pitcher Stamps have been an integral part of the Bulldogs’ success over the past few seasons.
